ReplyDelete@Mansi: Thank You :)
ReplyDeletehi its always showing timeout what to do?
ReplyDeleteTry again...it should work....sometimes it might say host unreachable as well...since hub can't be run 24 hours.
ReplyDeleteWhen it says Connection refused by target machine, does it mean that the server is not working at that moment?
ReplyDeleteYes, that means the hub is not working at that time.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to say thank you for ages but didn't get around to it till now.
ReplyDeleteI installed oDC on my Vista partition but for some weird reason Vista doesn't allow me to access the LAN for more than 13 minutes at a time 0.o
And Linux, temperamental as it is, refuses to let me install oDC at all.
One question - when you say 'hub', does that mean all sharing has to be done through that node only? I could make my laptop a hub too, cuz I keep it on almost all the time I'm in my room.
Or can we try to set up a P2P network? That way the load would be shared by all the computers on the LAN.
I don't have an idea of the P2P network..will have to learn about it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the hub is the single node(computer) through which sharing can be done...I have tried keeping it running as much as I can. But since there's no computer room, it has to be this way only. If I now make another computer as the hub, everybody will have to make changes again...if you are ready to spread the word around again, I don't have any problem.
P.S. @Nyx: Can I know who's this? Can you please drop me a mail or something..will sort this thing then..
Hi, Can I also access this LAN from the old Kailash Hostel? Its showing connection timeout
ReplyDeleteI have no idea whether it can be accessed from old kailash or not...Most probably you cannot.

ReplyDeleteHow does this thing work for mac?
ReplyDeleteit says Connection refused by target machine, what does it mean ?
ReplyDelete@bhavu: I think it should work pretty much in the same way for mac as well if you are able to download odc.
ReplyDelete@kanchan: Connection refused would mean that the hub is not on. There is no problem with settings.
Hi Surbhi,
ReplyDeleteI tried connecting to oDC so many times but it always says connection timed out. In order to confirm that its not the problem of the hub i checked wid my neighbors and its working perfectly on there system but not on mine..
Can u troubleshoot the error. Why its refusing to connect on my system wen it works on others.
Thanks for the initiative..
